About Us

The Birth of an Agility School (Flexible Flyers)

Mary Lou Hughes, Barbara DeMascio, and three other folks conceived Flexible Flyers Agility Group in 1991. It was Barbara and Mary Lou who came up with the name and logo.

When we first started, the Flexible Flyers training school was held at an indoor horse arena where we had to bring in, set up, and remove all our equipment every time we had classes. We are very fortunate now, as we are able to leave our equipment in the training building for the most part, only moving things out periodically, but rearranging obstacles for each class.

When we started our classes Barbara DeMascio became our one and only trainer. In January 2004, Barbara left us, as she was too busy giving seminars to commit to a teaching schedule.

We have now added more training nights and have three wonderful instructors to teach them. The making of equipment (jumps etc.) became the job and pride of Mary Lou who received help with from Paul Sandoe.

At this time we have, as students, several folks who started with us in our very first class. I want them to know how grateful Flexible Flyers is to still have them and wish them as much success and fun with their current four legged friend(s)/companion(s) as they have had in the past.

Our Purpose

Flexible Flyers Agility Group is made up of folks who have a commitment to use agility training as a means to enhance communication between dog and owner, strengthen the human/animal bond, and just have fun with your dog.

  7. The building is owned by the Boy Scouts. You will need to work with them for approval of this. Mary Lou can assist with introductions. Please send her an email or give her a call directly. (vdon@comcast.net / 610-692-5518)
